Travel guide to the top of Lunch Peak in ID
Lunch Peak is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 1.956m (6,417ft) above the sea level, located in Bonner County, in the northern part of the U.S. state of Idaho.
Set high in the Cabinet Mountains of northern Idaho, within the Kaniksu National Forest, the road to the summit is totally unpaved and rough in spots. It’s called Lunch Peak Road #1091. Though the road is well maintained, high-clearance vehicles are recommended.
The road to the summit is steep, hitting a 9% of maximum gradient through some of the ramps. Starting at Trestle Creek, the ascent is 24.94km (15.5 miles) long. Over this distance the elevation gain is 1.318 meters. The average gradient is 5.28%. The summit hosts a lookout built in 1971, with great views in all directions: Cabinet Mountain Wilderness, the Selkirk Mountains and Lake Pend Oreille.
