A smooth road to Salsberry Pass in Death Valley NP
Salsberry Pass is a mountain pass at an elevation of 1.006m (3,300ft) above the sea level, located in Inyo County, in the eastern central part of the U.S. state of California.
Tucked away in southern Death Valley National Park, in Greewater Mountains, the road to the summit is totally paved. It’s called CA-178 (Jubilee Pass Road). It’s a very scenic and smooth drive but susceptible to damage by flash floods.
The pass road is 40.23km (25 miles) long, running west-east from Badwater Road to CA-127. The drive is pretty steep, hitting an 8.0% of maximum gradient through some of the ramps. The middle months of May-October can be brutally hot.
