Arizona 62 is a beautiful road through Madera Canyon
Arizona 62 (Highway 62) is a very scenic drive through the Santa Rita Mountains, in Pima County, in the south central region of the U.S. state of Arizona.
Located within the Coronado National Forest, the road is 21.88km (13.6 miles) long, running from the paved AZ-83 towards E White House Canyon Road. The first 8 miles are paved. The remainder is dirt, rocky and narrow in places but navigable by all passenger vehicles in dry weather if driven carefully. The road features narrow and curvy sections, but take your time.
The road (also called Box Canyon Road) is steep in parts, and tops put at 1.587m (5,206ft) above the sea level. It’s typically open all year round. If you do choose this route please check up to date information: this drive may be warm in summer and may receive occasional snowfall in the winter. There are plenty of pull-outs in case you meet someone coming the other way.
