The Wild Road to Onyx Peak
Onyx Peak is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 2.782m (9,127ft) above the sea level, located in the southwestern part of San Bernardino County, in the US state of California.
Nestled in the San Bernardino Mountains, the road to the summit is totally unpaved. It’s called 1N01A. 4x4 vehicles only. If a gate at Onyx Summit is open you can drive all the way to the summit.
Located in San Bernardino National Forest, the summit hosts a few communication facilities. Starting from Onyx Summit, the ascent is 4.82km (3.0 miles) long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 203 meters. The average gradient is 4.21%.
