Nestled in the San Gabriel Mountains, the road to the summit is called Mount Baldy Road. It’s paved. It has quite a few switchbacks and it’s mostly a two lane road. The road ends on a big parking lot of Mt. Baldy Resort.
Starting from N Mills Avenue, the road is 20.92km (13.0 miles) long. Over this distance the elevation gain is 1.468 meters. The average gradient is 7.01% but hits a 15% of maximum gradient in parts.
