Cone Peak, the second highest mountain in the Santa Lucia Range
Cone Peak is a mountain peak at an elevation of 1.261m (4,137ft) above the sea level, located in Monterey County, on the Big Sur coast of California, USA.
Located in the Santa Lucia Range, within Los Padres National Forest, the road road the summit is unpaved. It’s called Forest Rte 22S05. The road is usually impassable from November to May. The road is totally impassable in wet weather. It’s narrow and steep. Only 4x4 vehicles. This entire area was burned in the fires of 2008 by varying degrees. Starting from the paved Nacimiento-Fergusson Road, the ascent is 10.94km (6.8 mi) long. The road is currently blocked by a barrier.
