Bajada a Xichu is a drive with spectacular views of Sierra Madre Oriental
Xichú is a Mexican city located in the Northeast region of the state of Guanajuato. The road to the city is called Bajada a Xichú. It’s a scenic road with spectacular views of Sierra Madre Oriental mountains and canyons.
There are two segments to get to Xichú, one is a dangerous old dirt road and another one is the new paved road route to the town. The unpaved old road is more scenic and dangerous offering unique views of the canyons, and a hand rock carved tunnel, while the paved road is more secure but still offers scenic views.
The road beyond Xichú is under construction to the town of Atarjea and is expected to make a junction at mexico 69 near Ayutla, Querétaro. This road will offer spectacular views of the canyon walls of Santa María river.
