La Ventosa (Mexico 185), one of the most dangerous roads in Mexico
La Ventosa (English; for the windy) is a small town in Oaxaca state and nickname of Mexico highway 185 because of its high speed crossing winds in almost every time in the year.
This is the only "fastest" highway linking the Pacific with the Gulf, especially cargo from Salina Cruz port at the pacific and Coatzacoalcos port to the gulf, this pass road competes directly to Panama canal with a maximum elevation of only 230 meters above sea level.
Due its high speed winds, high commute traffic of heavy cargo trucks, bad road conditions, small towns with speed bumps everywhere and constant reckless driving, this one of the most dangerous highway to drive in the country. But to mention one of the most frequent reason of accidents in this road are caused by just wind, where it moves trucks and cars to the wrong side of the road or outside of it and even sometimes it overthrow trucks. The road doesn't offer great views, nor it’s scenic, only for hundred of windmills installed in valley and some tropical jungle biome.
