Road Mexico 182
Mexico 182 (Tuxtepec-Teotitlán) is a very scenic and dangerous route in Oaxaca state. The road offers stunning views of Sierra Madre Oriental Mountains, valleys, and canyons of different biomes such tropical rain forest, pine forest and desert in same route. There are views of Miguel Aleman lake too.
The road is narrow, with sharp curves, many small towns with people walking along the route and homes next to it and some switchbacks. The road bad conditions are present almost everywhere. Starting at Tuxtepec (30 masl), the road first ascends to the Miguel Aleman lake and some communities in the valley, departing from San Felipe de Jalapa at 150 masl, the road dramatically ascends into a canyon route offering incredible views along the canyon walls up to a town called San Juan Coatzospam located at 1820 masl.
The road dizzies into the mountains into a canyon of minimum elevation of 1200 masl and goes up again into a maximum elevation of 2420 masl near Santa Maria Teopoxco and finally descends in Teotitlán at 1000 masl. Not recommend for those who suffer of dizziness or anyone who doesn't do engine brake.
