Sachigo Lake winter road
Located in Northwestern Ontario, Canada, the icea road over the Sachigo Lake is a fun experience for many drivers.
The winter road runs north-easterly from Muskrat Dam to Sachigo Lake First Nation. It’s open between mid-January until the spring thaw. The road over the lake is 34km long. It’s the longest ice crossing in Ontario's winter roads. The lake is 91 meters deep. Low temperatures are needed to freeze lakes and other water crossings before enough snow accumulates to insulate the ice, making it harder for freezing to the necessary thickness.
