A memorable road trip to Moab Lake in AB
Moab Lake is a high mountain lake at an elevation of 1.241m (4,071ft) above the sea level, located in Canada’s Alberta province.
Set high in the Canadian Rockies, within the Jasper National Park, the road to the popular fishing spot is totally unpaved, meandering along the Whirlpool River. It’s called Range Road 280B (Moab Lake Road). The road is rough in parts, so it is slow going.
The drive is very scenic and there are a few pretty spots to stop at. Starting at the paved AB-93A, the drive is 6.8km (4.22 miles) long. It’s navigable by passenger vehicles but high clearance is recommended. It’s usually closed during the winter (mid-October to mid-April/May).
