The lake is located 3 km west of Field, in southeastern British Columbia (just west of the Alberta – British Columbia border) in Yoho National Park (YNP).

The scenic road to the emerald coloured lake is totally paved. It’s called Emerald Lake Road. It is the largest of Yoho's 61 lakes and a very popular tourist destination. Many wild animals live in the área.

How long is the road to Emerald Lake?

Starting at Trans-Canada Highway, the road to the lake is 9.1 km (5.65 miles) long surrounded by many towering mountains.

Is the road to Emerald Lake open?

Tucked away in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, the road is open year round. Emerald Lake does not have cell reception, once you turn off of the highway.
