Can you drive to Levette Lake in BC?
Tucked away in the Tantalus Range Mountains, in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, the road to the lake is mostly unpaved, with paved sections at the beginning, but after Evans Lake, the road becomes rough, steep and narrow. It’s called Levette Lake Forestry Road. The area can be closed anytime due to the presence of black bears.
How long is the road to Levette Lake?
Starting at Paradise Valley, the road to the lake is 4.5km (2.79 miles) long. The drive offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. There is limited parking.
Do you need a 4x4 to get to Levette Lake?
In order to complete the drive you’ll need a 4x4 vehicle with high clearance. The road has loose boulders and plenty of potholes. The washouts (cross ditches) along this section are easily manageable. The last half of the road can be very rough at times, especially in August-September.
