Akçaağıl Gölü
Akçaağıl Gölü is a high mountain glacial lake at an elevation of 3.107m (10,193ft) above the sea level, located on the border of Rize and Bayburt provinces of Turkey. It’s one of the highest roads of Europe.
The road to the lake is gravel, rocky, tippy and bumpy. The best time to go to the lake is during July-August. Be prepared for the cold and wind! High winds blow here all year long. 4x4 vehicle required. Expect a trail pretty steep. Drive with care as this is a mountain road with dangerous dropoffs. The lake has a depth of 2.5 m. Extremely low oxygen for engine combustion. It’s one of the highest roads of the country.
