Road trip guide: Conquering the Mount Köse
Köse Dağı is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 2.681m (8,795ft) above the sea level, located in the Ağrı Province of eastern Turkey.
The road to the summit is totally unpaved. Accessibility is largely limited to the summer season. 4x4 vehicle required. The road is very steep. Starting from Eleşkirt, the road to the summit is 20.7 km (12.86 miles) long. Over this distance the elevation gain is 869 meters. The average gradient is 4.19%. The area around the mountain is officially a restricted military zone that’s off-limits to visitors.
