The road with 18 sharp hairpin turns to Özlükent
Özlükent is a small town located in Ordu Province on the Black Sea coast, of Turkey. The hairy road to the town is brutal, with 18 sharp hairpin turns and dangerous drop offs.
The road is mostly paved. It was constructed in 2013 to build a power station on the Melet River. Later, the road began to be used by the residents of 5 neighborhoods, as it was a shorter route from Özlükent to Darıcabaşı. The road reduced the time between both towns from 2.5 hours to 30 minutes.
The road is brutally steep. Starting at the power plant, the ascent is 6km (3.72 miles) long. Over this distance the elevation gain is 760 meters. The average gradient is 12.66%. The road has 18 sharp hairpin turns and it’s especially dangerous after rains, with mudslides.
