Lej da Diavolezza
Lej da Diavolezza is a high mountain lake at an elevation of 2.697m (8,848ft) above the sea level, located in the Swiss canton of Graubünden.
The road to the lake, located above the Val Bernina, is gravel, rocky, tippy and bumpy at times. The road is usually impassable from October to June (weather permitting). The beautiful surroundings and the flora and fauna are an absolute delight. Great trail for experienced wheelers. Avoid driving in this area if unpaved mountain roads aren't your strong point. If you are lucky you will see some piarmigan.
4x4 vehicle required. Stay away if you're scared of heights. Expect a trail pretty steep. Thunderstorm activity can quickly change unpaved roads to four-wheel-drive condition or make them impassable. Its many twists, turns and narrows can pose a challenge to even the most experienced drivers. The road is not easy, though. Up, down, right, left all the time. The lake, covered with snow during winter, shows its beauty at the beginning of the summer season, when snow and ice reveal its intense blue color.
