A memorable road trip to Lai da Vons
Lai da Vons is a high mountain lake at an elevation of 1.991m (6,532ft) above sea level peacefully nestled between the Rheinwald forest and Val Schons, in the district of Hinterrhein in the Swiss canton of Graubünden.
Set high within the Beverin Nature Park, the road to the lake is a well-maintained little road, called Gütersträsschen. It’s mostly paved. Only the last part is gravel. The road is pretty narrow and steep, with sections up to 12%.
Starting from Andeer, the ascent is 11 km long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 1.095 meters. The average percentage is 10 %. And starting from Sufers, the ascent is 6.3 km long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 657 meters. The average percentage is 10.4 %. From the idyllic lake, the sweeping panoramic view extends across the Sufers reservoir lake up to the Rheinwald.
