Ibergeregg Pass, a delightful yet challenging drive in Switzerland
Ibergeregg Pass is a mountain pass at an elevation of 1.410m (4,625ft) above the sea level, located in the canton of Schwyz in Switzerland.
Nestled in the Swiss Alps, the road to the summit is paved. It’s The road is quite narrow and windy, making it impossible to overtake. The current paved road to the summit was constructed in 1873.
Expect heavy weekend traffic. It’s a nice drive through the woods and alpine meadows. Open to traffic throughout the year, may be closed for short periods in winter when the weather is bad. There are some great views over the Vierwaldstätter see and some views of the Grosser Mythen. The road is steep, hitting a maximum grade of 14 percent through some of the ramps. The summit hosts an inn, a chapel, and a ski station.
The pass is 19.9km (12.36 miles) long, running west-east from the town of Schwyz, the capital of the canton of Schwyz towards Unteriberg, a village in Schwyz District in the canton of Schwyz.
