A tricky drive to Collado del Muñon
Collado del Muñon is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 1.768m (5,800ft) above the sea level, located in the province of León, Castile and León, in northwest Spain.
Located within the Somiedo Natural Park, in the Cantabrian Mountains, the road to the summit is unpaved and treacherous in parts. Strongly required making your way though with a high-clearance 4WD vehicle. Only travel on this road when it is dry. As always, check road conditions before departing. Weather conditions can change quickly and be harsh. Open to traffic throughout the year, may be closed for short periods in winter when the weather is bad. Starting from La Cueta, a small town, the ascent is 3.1km long. Over this distance the elevation gain is 315 meters. The average gradient is 10.16%.
