The peak, also known as Cima del Serradero and Cima Moncalvillo, is located in the northern part of the country. The summit hosts communication towers, various facilities, and a fire lookout tower.

The road to the summit is fully paved, although it is in poor condition in some areas. It features 6 hairpin turns and several narrow sections.

How Long Is the Road to Alto del Moncalvillo?

Set high in the Sierra de Moncalvillo mountain range, this climb has been featured in the Spanish Vuelta race. Starting from the LR-341 road (near the town of Daroca de Rioja), the ascent is 8.6 km (5.34 miles) long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 752 meters, with an average gradient of 8.74% and sections reaching up to 14%.
