The Wild Road to Observatorio Astronómico del Teide
Observatorio Astronómico del Teide is an astronomical observatory at an elevation of 2.397m (7,864ft) above the sea level, located in Tenerife in the Canary Islands, Spain. It’s one of the highest roads of Spain.
Located within the Teide National Park, the road to the summit is asphalted, just off the TF24 highway. The wind is usually quite strong at mountain areas. High winds blow here all year long. It is the largest solar observatory in the world. The first telescope for studying zodiacal light, light dispersed by interplanetary material, entered service here in 1964. The Canary Islands is one of the three best spots in the world to observe the sky, along with Chile and Hawaii.
