A memorable road trip to Pic de l’Aliga
Pic de l’Aliga is a mountain peak at an elevation of 460m (1,509ft) above the sea level, located on the border of Alt Penedes and Garraf comarcas, in the province of Barcelona and autonomous community of Catalonia, Spain.
The peak, also known as Puig de l’Aliga, lies in the Garraf Massif, a mountain range of the Catalan Coastal Range. The road to the summit is gravel. Drive with care as this is a mountain road with dropoffs. The journey offers an exhilarating driving experience, with superb views. The summit offers generous views of the Penedès and Garraf regions, Montserrat and up to the Pyrenees. On a clear day it’s possible to see the Mediterranean sea and it's not unusual to see the mountains of Mallorca.
The summit (Eagle Hill) hosts a metallic fire lookout tower. Very hot on summers. The road is pretty steep. Starting from BV-2443 road, at 261m above the sea level, the ascent is 3.3 km long. Over this distance the elevation gain is 199 meters. The average gradient is 6.03%, with some parts up to 12%.
