Alto de la Cruz de la Demanda
Alto de la Cruz de la Demanda is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 1.855m (6,085ft) above the sea level, located on the border of Castile and León and La Rioja regions, in northwestern Spain.
The road to the summit is called LR-415. It’s paved but includes some narrow sections. This very interesting 1st Category pass includes some really steep parts, up to 14.2%. The second half is notably more difficult than the early kilometres. The road can be closed anytime due to snow and ice. Snow is reasonably common from November to April.
The climb has been featured in the Spanish Vuelta race. Starting from Ezcaray, the ascent is 15 km long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 890 meters. The average percentage is 5.9 %. There is little traffic on the climb. The road is fairly exposed with a few hairpin turns along the way.
