A paved road to the iconic Puerto de Ventana
Puerto de Ventana is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 1.587m (5,206ft) above the sea level, located in the Cordillera Cantábrica, a mountain range in northern Spain.
The pass links the Principado de Asturias and Castilla y León. The road over the pass is asphalted. It’s called AS-228 (north side) and LE-481 (south side). This road is usually open all year, but it can be closed anytime when the access is not cleared of snow.
Starting from San Martín de Taverga, the ascent is 20km long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 1.127 meters. The average slope is 5.63%.
