Puerto de Escúllar is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.036m (6,679ft) above the sea level, located in the province of Granada, in the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain.

Is Puerto de Escúllar paved?

Set high on the southern edge of the Sierra de Baza mountain, the road to the summit, also known as Puerto de Padilla, is totally paved. It’s called AL-5404 (south) and GR-8101 (north). On either side of the summit, the surface is bad, but nothing to worry about. The only disappointment is the lack of any sign for the top, and it’s actually difficult to know where the highest point is, as it is flat around the top. The road has absolutely no traffic.

How long is Puerto de Escúllar?

Located on the southern part of the country, to the north of the Sierra Nevada National Park, the pass is 57.5km long (35.72 miles) long, running north-south from Caniles to Abla.

Is Puerto de Escúllar steep?

The pass has featured in the Vuelta a España race and the road is very steep, hitting a 10% of maximum gradient through some of the ramps. It’s usually open all year round.
