A memorable road trip through Guatizalema Canyon
Cañón del Rio Guatizalema is a very scenic drive running through an incredible landscape located in Huesca province, in the Spanish autonomous community of Aragón. It’s one of the most scenic canyon roads of Spain.
Tucked away in the Sierra de Guara mountain range, within the Guara Natural Park in northeastern Spain, the road is totally paved running through Guatizalema Canyon, an imposing gorge created by the karst erosion of the waters of Guatizalema creek. It’s called HU-330. Don´t forget to bring your camera. Amazing views will reward you along the route.
The road is 16km (9.94 miles) long, running south-north from N-240 road to the beautiful Embalse de Vadiello (Vadiello reservoir). The drive is extremely challenging due its narrowness but very scenic, with stunning views. It features stone bridges and narrow unlit tunnels. It´s one of the most visited areas in Huesca province, especially on weekends.
The width of the road ranges from 3.50 to 5.60 meters. In parts, it’s totally impassable for 2 cars at the same time, so proceed cautiously and hope no other vehicles come from the other direction. Not recommended if you don't know how to reverse. The road is prone to rockslides. Be careful with snowfalls in the winter.
