The road to El Maigmó: be ready to make room for oncoming vehicles
El Maigmó is a mountain peak at an elevation of 1.192m (3,910ft) above the sea level, located in the comarca of L'Alcoià, in the province of Alicante, Spain.
Located in the Costa Blanca area, the road to the summit, also known as Alt de les Xemeneies, was recently paved. The road is narrow and there are steep slopes, which is important to bear in mind. Also, if cars are coming, it will be necessary to maneuver. The summit is crowned with communication towers and a lookout tower, with a 360° panoramic view of the area and the Mediterranean Sea.
The climb is extremely steep, hitting a 16% through some of the ramps. Starting from the CV-815 road, the ascent is 5.4km long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 566 meters. The average gradient is 10.5%. Traffic is practically non-existant throughout the climb.
