The wild unpaved road to Pico del Nevero
Pico del Nevero is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 2.211m (7,257ft) above the sea level, located in Spain. It’s one of the highest roads of the country.
Set high in the Sierra de Guadarrama (mountain range of the Central System) within the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park, the road to the summit is totally unpaved. High winds blow here all year long. The road to the summit includes some brutally steep sections (up to 37%).
Located on the border of Segovia province (in Castile and León region) and the Community of Madrid, in the central part of the country, the drive is recommended from late spring to early fall, since you´ll go through mountain roads where there is often snow. 4x4 vehicle required. Along the way there are several ruined constructions from Spanish Civil War. The summit is considered to be one of the best viewpoints in the Sierra de Guadarrama and the panoramic view offered by the summit is truly spectacular, with stunning views of Peñalara, Cuerda Larga and Bola del Mundo peaks.
