When was Eigerøy Lighthouse built?

Tucked away on Norway’s southwestern coast, the lighthouse, established in 1854 and automated in 1989, is 32.9 meter tall. It has one of Europe’s strongest lights overlooking the North Sea. The lighthouse was built to ensure the safety of the shipping traffic along the coast. It has great views at any time, but especially on stormy days. The complex now includes overnight accommodation and a Sunday café in the lighthouse keeper’s residence. The area is prone to strong winds.
