Monte Soro: The Ultimate Road Trip Guide
Monte Soro is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 1.848m (6,062ft) above the sea level located in the Italian region Sicily. It’s a great route for its twisty roads, beautiful colors and views.
Nestled in the heart of the Nebrodi mountains, in the center of the Sicilian Apennines, the road to the summit is asphalted in very poor conditions surrounded by cork oak forests. It’s very narrow. At the summit there are several TV repeaters.
Starting from Strada Statale 289 at Portella Femmina Morta, the ascent is 5.1 km long. Over this distance the elevation gain is 318 meters. The average gradient is 6.23%. Snow can block the road from November to April. The summit offers stunning 360º views.
