Running through the eastern part of Sardinia, the road is fully paved. It is 354 km (220 miles) long. It is one of the most amazing and beautiful roads in Sardinia as well as one of the most dangerous routes.

Where does Strada Statale 125 Orientale Sarda start and end?

The road runs south-north from Quartucciu (in the metropolitan city of Cagliari) to Palau (in the province of Sassari). The entire route is very scenic, with pits, tunnels, and an infinite number of dangerous turns. Traffic can become heavy during summer in and around touristic areas. Beware of high winds; gusts in excess of 100 km/h (60 mph) are common from September to April.

Is Strada Statale 125 Orientale Sarda worth the drive?

The most scenic part of the route is located within the Parco nazionale del Golfo di Orosei e del Gennargentu. It is 63km (39 miles) long and links Santa Maria Navarrese (a coastal and tourist town in the province of Ogliastra), and Dorgali (a town in the Province of Nuoro).
