Where is Colle dell'Assietta?

The pass is located in the Piedmont region, in the northern part of the country. This is one of many passes on the spectacular Assietta Road (Strada Provinciale 173) from Susa to Sestriere in the western Italian Alps.

Is the road to Colle dell'Assietta unpaved?

The road to the summit is totally unpaved. It’s a military carriageway along the ridge that gathers Pian dell’Alpe to Sestriere. The road has a speed limit of 30 km/h and is forbidden to overtake or stopping outside the parking areas. It’s rideable despite of the many rocks and deteriorated surface especially in curves.

Is the road to Colle dell'Assietta open in winter?

This gravel road just opens from June 1st to October 31st.
