An epic enthralling road to Colle Basset
Colle Basset is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.424m (7,952ft) above sea level, located in the Metropolitan City of Turin, in Italy.
Where is Colle Basset?
The pass is located in the Piedmont region, in the northern part of the country. This is one of many passes on the spectacular Assietta Road (officially called S. P. 173) from Susa to Sestriere in the western Italian Alps.
Is the road to Colle Basset unpaved?
The road to the summit is totally unpaved. It’s a military carriageway along the ridge that gathers Pian dell’Alpe to Sestriere. Colle Basset is the first pass on the Assietta ridge route from Sestriere side. The road has a speed limit of 30 km/h and is forbidden to overtake or stopping outside the parking areas. It’s rideable despite of the many rocks and deteriorated surface especially in curves.
Is the road to Colle Basset open in winter?
This gravel road just opens from June 1st to October 31st.
