Colle del Preit is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.065m (6,774ft) above sea level, located in Cuneo province, in the southwest of the Piedmont region of Italy.

Set high in the northern part of the country, to the east of Gardetta Pass, the road to the summit is extremely narrow and pretty defiant, with countless turns and steep sections. The road was improved a few years ago, as it was totally unpaved and extremely bad.

Is the road to Colle del Preit closed?

The last part of the road is closed to private vehicles. It is a lonely road, but there are a few tourists going up.

How long is the road to Colle del Preit?

Starting from Preit, a small town, the ascent is 5.4 km (3.35 miles) long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 524 meters. The average gradient is 9.70%. Especially the last stretch just before the pass is very steep, hitting 16.0% of maximum gradient through some of the ramps.
