A scenic unpaved road to Monte Bellino in the Cottian Alps
Monte Bellino is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 2.172m (7,125ft) above the sea level, located in Cuneo province, in the southwest of the Piedmont region of Italy.
Set high in the Cottian Alps, within the Maira Valley, the road to the summit is totally unpaved. It’s usually impassable in winters. The last part of the road is closed to private vehicles. 4x4 vehicle required.
The road to the summit is pretty steep, hitting a 20.4% of maximum gradient through some of the ramps. Starting from the paved Strada Provinciale 422 road, the ascent is 6.1 km (3.79 miles) long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 553 meters. The average gradient is 9.06%.
