How long is the road through Kollafjarðarheiði pass?

Set high on the northwestern part of the country, the road to the summit is entirely unpaved. It’s called F66 (Kollafjarðarheiði) Road. The road is 24.5 km (15.22 miles) long, running north-south from Road 61 to Road 60. It’s one of the famous F Roads of the country.

Is the road to Kollafjarðarheiði pass open in winters?

Surrounded by lunar landscapes, the road is pretty bumping and challenging. The track is pretty bad, filled with large rocks. 4x4 vehicles only. It features many river crossings. It’s only open during the summer months, usually between late June and early September.
