Travel guide to the top of Vallon de la Fournache
Vallon de la Fournache is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 2.703m (8,868ft) above the sea level, located in the Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France. It’s one of the highest roads of Europe.
Located in the Vanoise massif of the Graian Alps, within the Parc National de la Vanoise, the road to the summit is unpaved. 4x4 vehicles only. It's a chairlift access trail. Accessibility is largely limited to the summer season. It’s one of the highest roads of the country. Starting from Lac de Plan d’Aval parking lot, the ascent is 4.6km long. Over this distance the elevation gain is 662 meters. The average gradient is 14.39%.
