The peak is located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, in the southeastern part of the country. At the summit, there are 2 restaurants, known as Eurl les 3 Ours and L'Homme de Pierre.
Is the road to Clot de l’Alpe unpaved?
The road to the summit is totally unpaved and bumpy, with some patched spots. It is very steep, hitting 10.5% through some of the ramps. 4x4 vehicles only. The trail is mostly used to provide access to maintain ski lifts and lodges.
How long is the road to Clot de l’Alpe?
Starting from Vars, the road to reach the summit is 13.9 km (8.63 miles) long. Over this distance, the road climbs up to Col de Chérine, Col de Valbelle, Col du Vallon and Col de Saluces. The drive offers a fantastic view over the Queyras, the Embrunais, and the Pelvoux Massif.
Is the road to Clot de l’Alpe open in winter?
Set high in the Alps, the road is totally impassable in winter.
