D29 is a short mountain road linking the villages of Guillaumes and Valberg, in the Alpes-Maritimes department of France. It’s one of the most scenic French balcony roads.

The road is located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, in the southeastern part of the country.

How long is the D29 road?

The road is fully paved and stretches 14.3 km (8.88 miles). It features narrow and steep sections, numerous tunnels, and 13 hairpin turns.

Where does the D29 road start and end?

The road begins in Guillaumes, at an elevation of 795 meters above sea level. At the gateway to the Mercantour National Park, Guillaumes is a charming village nestled at the bottom of the high Var River valley, on the road to Cayolle Pass. The road ends in Valberg, set in the splendid alpine environment of the Mercantour Massif. The town is located just one hour from the French Riviera and Nice Côte d'Azur International Airport, at an elevation of 1,672 meters above sea level.
