A memorable road trip to Col du Poutran
Col du Poutran is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 1.996m (6,548ft) above the sea level, located in the Central French Alps, in the commune of Huez, in the Isère département in the Rhône-Alpes region.
The road to the summit is totally paved. It’s called Route des Lacs. You can find the road at the top of the ski resort of Alpe d'Huez, next to the cable car to the Grande Rousses. The last 100m of the ascent are gravel.
The road to the summit is asphalted. Starting from Bourg d'Oisans, the ascent is 15.78 km long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 1.273 meters. The average percentage is 8.1 %. The classic Alpe d’Huez climb is part of the climb to this pass. There are plenty of cyclists in this region because of the magnetism that Alpe d’Huez has on cyclists worldwide.
