Ultimate 4wd destination: Cima di Tombue
Cima di Tombue is a mountain pass at an elevation of 1.200m (3,937ft) above the sea level, located in the Haute-Corse department of France on the island of Corsica. It’s one of the highest roads of Corsica.
Set high in the center of the island, the road to the summit is totally unpaved. A 4x4 vehicle is required. The summit is subject to strong north and north-westerly winds.
The road to the summit is very steep, hitting a 17% of maximum gradient through some of the ramps. Starting at Bocca di Battaglia, the ascent 1.2km (0.74 miles) long. Over this distance the elevation gain is 96 meters. The average gradient is 8%.
