Spur Battery
Spur Battery is an artillery battery at an elevation of 334m (1,095ft) above the sea level located in the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar. It was built in 1902.
The road to the coastal defence artillery battery is called Spur Battery Road. It’s asphalted but very steep and extremely narrow. Spur Battery has standard underground works including a workshop, shell store, cartridge store and shifting lobby. There are some narrow sections -scarcely wide enough for two cars- where if two vehicles have to pass each other, one might have to reverse for some meters of winding narrow road to get to a place wide enough to pass. It shouldn’t be attempted by those who don't know how to reverse.
