Is the Vilyui Highway paved?

Part of the A-331 road, the Vilyui Highway comprises both paved and unpaved sections. A passenger vehicle can make the journey, but after rains, it can become impassable even for 4WD vehicles.

Why is it called Vilyui Highway?

The highway is named after the Vilyui River, and to complete the drive, you’ll need to cross the river by ferry at many points.

Where does the Vilyui Highway start and end?

The road is 1,171 km (727 miles) long, running from Mirny (a town and the administrative center of Mirninsky District) to Yakutsk (a port city on the Lena River, in East Siberia).
