Road of Life is an epic adventure
Located beyond the Arctic circle, on the Kildin Island, the Road of Life is an epic adventure in the Russian Murmansk Oblast.
The road is 10.87 km (6.75 mi) long and links the small towns of Zapadny Kildin and Vostochny Kildin. It’s an old military track built by prisoners in 1920-30’s. It’s mostly gravel, but the most famous section is called Golden kilometer or Kilometer Rokossovskogo. It’s a 1200m section of pebble pavement.
