The road is located on the island of Sakhalin (Sakhalin Oblast), at the far eastern end of Russia, between the Tatar Strait and the Sea of Okhotsk, north of the Japanese island of Hokkaido. To complete the drive, you’ll need to be self-sufficient, due to its remoteness.
