Golyam Kupen
Golyam Kupen is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 1.870m (6,135ft) above the sea level, located in Vitosha Mountain, Bulgaria. The average gradient is 16.92% with some sections up to 25%.
The road to the summit, located on the southern border of Bistrishko Branishte Biosphere Reserve, is gravel and rocky. It’s impassable in winters. Avoid driving in this area if unpaved mountain roads aren't your strong point. 4x4 with high clearance vehicle required. Stay away if you're scared of heights. Expect a trail pretty steep. Starting from Zheleznitsa, the ascent is 4.82 km (3.00 mi) long. Over this distance the elevation gain is 816 meters. The average gradient is 16.92% with some sections up to 25%. At the summit there’s an Academic training base of the Bulgarian National Sport Academy.
