Where is Pass of the Republic?
The pass, also known as Hainboaz Pass, is located on the boundary between Stara Zagora and Veliko Tarnovo provinces, in the central part of the country. The summit hosts a couple of bars and a mountain cabin.
Is Pass of the Republic paved?
Tucked away in the Balkan Mountains (Stara Planina), the road to the summit is fully paved. It’s called Road 55. The road is very curvy but pretty wide, although it misses central lines in parts.
How long is Pass of the Republic?
The road was constructed in the 1960s. The pass is 33.8 km (21 miles) long and runs north-south from Voneshta Voda to Gurkovo.
