The road to Qafa e Asters isn’t an easy one
Qafa e Asters is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 937m (3,074ft) above the sea level, located in Shkodër County, in northwestern Albania.
The road to the summit is totally unpaved and rocky. It’s not an easy drive. Only suitable for offroad vehicles because the rocky road requires ground clearance. Avalanches, heavy snowfalls and landslides can occur anytime and can sometimes block some sections of the road. Some parts of the road are totally impassable for 2WD vehicles.
The drive offers a fantastic mountain panorama, but the drive us very remote, quiet and secluded. The pass road is 11.3 km (7.02 miles) long, running from Lotaj to Nicaj-Shosh.
