Located to the southeast of Qafa e Thellë, within the Llogara National Park, the road to the summit, also known as Thanasit Majae, is totally unpaved. A 4x4 vehicle is required. It’s a very dangerous road, extremely narrow, with 15 hairpin turns, dangerous drop offs, and without guardrails. One mishap and you plunge off the cliff and into the sea. Be prepared for a precarious cliff road with rocks and sand.
Is Maja e Thanas worth it?
Set high in the Ceraunian Mountains, on the southwestern part of the country, the views at the summit are stunning, towards Vlora bay over the Ionian Sea and beyond. The summit hosts antennas and communication facilities.
